Wood chip is a multi-purpose product. As a wood fuel for example, wood chips are a
clean burning form of biomass fuel. They produce almost no smoke and can be used in purposely-designed
stoves and boilers, which are semi-automatic and thermostatically controlled. Generally speaking larger commercial or
industrial heating systems run off wood chip. Wood chip is a sustainable and renewable source of fuel for heating and
We can offer high quality grade
G30, G50 and G100 wood chip, produced from locally sourced timber as part of a
sustainable forest management operation.
Wood chip can be used in many applications, including wood fuel, equestrian paths/surfaces, ménage, arenas, gallops, landscaping schemes (parks, play areas, gardens) and animal bedding (e.g. cattle, pigs, reptiles, sheep, chicken coop, rabbits, guinea pigs, poultry, small animals).
In the equestrian world, it provides an excellent temporary surfacing. It is particularly suitable for vehicle crossing points on racecourses and event courses. Patches of hard or soft going can be improved with the addition of wood chip to overcome temporary problems. Muddy gateways and pedestrian routes can be made passable for show and other event traffic. Wood chip is easily handled and a flexible tool for event organisers.
Price on application depending on location, volume and unloading time. Prices are based volume in cubic metres, weight and CV output. As a guide, 1 ton = ca. 4 cubic meters in loose chip.
We can offer supply contracts that guarantee quantities and qualities of wood chip for fuel, which are tailored to meet customers’ needs. A long-term contract provides the opportunity for planning and has the benefit of ensuring a secure supply at the most advantageous price.
Deliveries can take place using various types of vehicle/transport solutions:
- Tipping bulker lorries of between 25 - 35 cubic metres.
- Tipping or walking floor artic lorries for larger volumes up to 90 cubic metres.
- Blown deliveries by specialist blowing vehicle of 20-35 cubic meters
- Scissor lift and tractor-trailers for small volumes of 12 cubic metres or dumpy bag deliveries.
For example, a bulk tipper lorry is 8’6” wide and approximately 50’ long. Any entrance needs to be a minimum of 12’ wide with either a “bell-mouth” layout or a substantial “sweeping” area to access the entrance. A turning circle of approx 55-60’ would be required.
We can advise on the most suitable delivery method for your site.
